The newsletter of raw materials & delicate inspirations by Laurent PASSE,
creative cabinetmaker in Provence
October 2024

At some point, like an alchemist in search of transformation, I had to burn my wood, subjecting it to this calcination test.
At the heart of the workshop, we patiently explored this technique, perfecting it day after day, until we fully mastered it. Today, it is an integral part of our approach, whether it is creating layouts or pieces of furniture.
Among our creations, I invite you to discover our work around “yakisugi”, and more particularly our latest project, “Point Rouge”: a kitchen made entirely of old burnt wood, enhanced by a natural stone, quartzite.
Laurent,

When you have to design a kitchen for a couple of gallery owners, you have to take the measure of the project. Lines, volume, materials must be balanced between strength, character and delicacy.
Burnt wood and quartzite combine wonderfully to provide a setting for the different works that make up the room.
