The newsletter of raw materials & delicate inspirations by Laurent PASSE,

The Barutel
You know it without really knowing it.
Its name escapes you, but its story has always been with you.
Barutel, this stone once quarried near Nîmes, shaped iconic monuments like the Maison Carrée and the Arena. Today, the quarry is silent, and some buildings that used this material are gradually disappearing, giving way to more contemporary architecture.
I was fortunate enough to recover several tons of this forgotten stone. You know how much I love reviving what the past entrusts to us: it will, for example, become a worktop in a new kitchen that I will present next year.
In the meantime, I invite you to reflect on a shift in perspective. Let us welcome our heritage with kindness, to better reveal and pass it on.
Laurent,
Glimmer

A glimmer of light falls on the old wood, revealing a mark, a knot, a flaw transformed into beauty.
Nothing is hidden, nothing is fully revealed.
It is this interplay that interests me: the material is just visible enough, the rest is implied.
A project in the heart of the Alpilles, in collaboration with interior designer Margherita Olivero.

“Retrospective” Hubert PASSE

On Saturday, October 11th, we had the pleasure of opening the showroom doors for the opening of the “Retrospective” exhibition, dedicated to my father’s work.
Many of you, both art enthusiasts and connoisseurs of outsider art, came to share this moment—a big thank you for your presence.
For those who were unable to join us, the exhibition remains accessible by appointment.
A group exhibition to discover in Paris

From November 26th to 30th in Paris, our friends Franck & Anne Claire, textile designers and founders of the Mille et Claire brand, will unveil a unique exhibition alongside other designers*.
Visit them at the DCW Editions lighting showroom at 71 rue de la Fontaine au Roi, Paris 11th arrondissement.
Book Recommandation

I mentioned it to you last month, it’s true, but I’m delighted to present again the book Plein Sud by Laurence Dougier and Nicolas Mathéus.
An essential book for all lovers of the Mediterranean lifestyle, featuring 21 superb houses and 10 portraits of artisans who bring their materials to life.
You’ll discover diverse destinations, certainly, but the spirit of the South permeates every page.
Family table & MAISON

Here’s a beautiful showcase of one of the large tables created for La Maison Vitchen.
In the latest issue of Milk Magazine, you’ll find an article about Anne and Emma’s new Parisian showroom. This mother and daughter have come together in this hybrid space, which serves as both a workshop and a reception and exhibition area.
Thank you both for your trust and your discerning eye for antique woods. Thanks also to Maurizio Clavero, the designer and architect of this space dedicated to beauty !
